Lucas is 6

Lucas is 6 today! He is 49 1/2 inches tall (above the 97th percentile) and weighs 54.3 lbs (75-90th percentile).

Lucas, I cannot believe you are 6. You are such a big boy with a sharp mind full of ideas and creativity. You love doing puzzles, crossword puzzles, word searches, mazes, and dot-to-dots. On our recent Thanksgiving trip to Denver, you did an entire book of 1-100 dot-to-dots and colored them all too. You also love to read and can read any book! You amaze me. And you love to write letters to friends from NYC and cousins (partly because you love to receive mail).

You have an incredible memory. You can tell me when and where you received each of your stuffies (stuffed animals) and you also remember so many other things that I have trouble remembering. You are always telling me things that you find interesting. You are into dinosaurs, planets, and as always - trains and cars. You and Sam love to go exploring inside and outside - usually while wearing your matching Sherlock hats and carrying magnifying glasses and binoculars. You and Sam are still best friends and that brings me a lot of joy to watch. You still run up and kiss and hug each other at the end of the school day, and you play together whenever you are home together.

Even though we just moved and you are in a new school, you have made friends with everyone in your class. You are so social and you never hesitate to introduce yourself to new kids wherever we are. You love going on scooter rides with Sam and Daddy and exploring the trails around our house. You are also learning to ride a bicycle. You got a pogo stick for Christmas and you are a natural at that too. You love sports and have always been very agile and coordinated.

You have a naturally inquisitive mind - you are always asking questions, and I love that about you. Your curiosity is contagious and you teach Sam so many things every day. But even though you are growing more independent every day, you are still my sweet and sensitive little boy who always kisses me at the kindergarten door and holds my hand when you are falling asleep.

Try not to grow up too fast! I love you.

Such a sweet post . . . brought tears to my eyes! I remember rocking Lucas, New Years Eve just after his birth, in your apartment near Times Sqaure. I could hear the revelry as the ball dropped! How have 6 years gone by so quickly??? I love the memories of my days at the park with him in New York. Love you ALL!
