This year is the first time in our married life that we have had a fireplace in our home (except when we lived in Paris, but we did not take any Christmas decorations with us). The boys have also never hung their stockings, so they were very excited about doing this. But for me, the most wonderful part of our Christmas decorating is our ceramic nativity, made by Doug's Grandma Brasher, who passed away earlier this year. When we were first married, she gave us a few pieces, then over the years she has given us more pieces until the set was complete. We have toted it around from move to move since we married, but have never had a place to set it out, so we have saved it until now. I have thought about it each year as we decorate. This year, it is on our mantle and I am thrilled to finally have it out for the holidays. Not only does it remind us of the birth of our Savior, the whole reason for this wonderful season, but it also reminds me of Doug's late Grandmother, who we all love and miss.
