When Lucas read this slip of paper he asked what service was. I told him it was doing something nice for someone else. Lucas decided he wanted to give away some of his candy trains that we made yesterday. I told him to think about who he wanted to give them to while he was at school. After school he informed me that he didn't want to do a service because that didn't sound fun. I told him that we should try it and then he could decide if it was fun. So, this evening, we gathered up some candy trains and went next door and then to some of his friends' houses. He delivered each item by himself (his request). At one house, it suddenly thundered really loud and then there was lightning followed by a total downpour like I have never seen. He was scared but very brave and still insisted on doing it by himself. When he got back in the car after the last stop he said, "I feel very good and that was fun."

Also, Lizzey came by today with gifts for the boys. She is their babysitter and they adore her. Lucas said, "Lizzey did a service to us." She sure did - it was a bright spot in our day and she is a bright spot in our lives!

AND, Santa just came down our street on a fire truck and threw candy to the boys when we opened our front door. Love this neighborhood!
